    Early Development of Children's Reading Interest and Ability

    Before children enter elementary school, parents of children who learn to read early often read books to their children and prepare a variety of things in the home to stimulate the children's interest in reading, such as miniature books for the children to look through, paper and pens for the children to color, draw and write.

    (1) Early reading makes children's performance in school a head start.

    The most important skill for children after school is reading, the intensity of interest in reading and the strength of reading ability are prerequisites for children's academic performance after school. Before the child enters school, we must pay attention to cultivate children's interest in reading, training children to have certain reading ability, it is possible to make the child in the elementary school in the lower grades of the learning of a strong competitive ability, to obtain excellent academic results.

    The United States has a name Dr. Drozda, in Oakland, California, has investigated 5103 first-grade freshmen, of which 49 individuals in the elementary school before they have learned to read at home. Dr. Drogsdale tracked these 49 children for five years and found that they stayed ahead of the curve when compared to other children. These children who learned to read early did not differ significantly from other children intellectually or personality-wise. Therefore, their academic leadership was not caused by anything other than reading.

      In a similar vein, Drozda did this kind of tracking in New York City, USA. He divided the children into two groups, which were of equal intelligence, but one group had learned to read before they started school and the other group had not learned to read before they started school. This investigation was followed up for three years, and Drogheda similarly found that the group of children who had learned to read early were consistently ahead of the children who had not learned to read early.

    (2) Differences are caused by parents

    In analyzing the causes of this situation, Drorisda pointed out that the difference in academic performance reflected in the children after school is not caused by the children's own psychological quality, but by the children's parents.

    Before their children enter elementary school, the parents of children who learn to read early often read books to their children and prepare for their children all kinds of things that can inspire their children's interest in reading in the family, such as small books for children to read, paper and pens that can be used for their children to draw, paint and write, and so on. Not only that, they also pay attention to stimulate the child's curiosity about words, rather than forcing the child to recognize words after the fact, whether it is to take the child to the street to buy things, or sit together at home to watch TV, as long as the appearance of suitable for the child to recognize the words, often will be very natural to point out to the child to learn.

    When DeLorestad surveyed mothers who had not taught their children to read before they started school, she found that they had one thing in common: they were too busy to do anything special for their children. For example, when they took their children shopping, they put all their energy into buying things, and their children were just a burden to them, and they would never say to their children, "Let's look at what's written on the cookie box."

    (3) The most important thing is to cultivate children's interest in reading.

    Before entering elementary school, it is not important how many words a child knows, but it is of the utmost importance to stimulate the child's curiosity and interest in words, and to create a strong desire and motivation to recognize, write and read words.

    If you start a child who has never been exposed to words before, and if you don't make a close connection with the child's life, then words can only be boring to the child, and you have no reason to believe that the child will be interested in learning them. However, if you can skillfully introduce words into your child's daily life at the very beginning, so that he can experience that words can add fun and convenience to his life, then he will have the motivation to learn. For example, if you take your child out to play, at the park gate, you can tell him that the big word hanging on the gate is "ΧΧ Park", and in the toy store, you can also tell him that the word printed on the box of the packaged toy gun is "gun". ...... often let the child learn in life, it does not take long, the child will instead take the initiative to ask you how to pronounce this word, what is the meaning of that word, at this point, learning to read for the child is no longer a boring or even painful thing.
